Beau Balou Hanoverian Stallion

Beau Balou

Beau Balou, a 2015, 17h Fully Approved Hanoverian Stallion, is by the outstanding sire, Bon Balou. He is a modern framed horse with 48% blood and has an outstanding jumping ability combined with three excellent paces and a wonderful temperament.

In 2018, at only 3 years of age, Beau Balou won his Canadian Warmblood (CWHBA) licensing.and successfully completed his first Performance Test, with CWHBA.

In 2019, at only 4 years of age, he completed his first North American Stallion Sport Test in Maryland, USA and scored a phenomenal 8.39, finishing 2nd out of 19 stallions presented that year. He completed the NASST requirements with a second performance test in 2021 (2020 was canceled due to Covid). He consistently received scores of 9's for jumping scope, canter, walk, rideability, character and temperament.

He has shown very successfully on the line and under saddle, placing 2nd in the prestigious Lieutenant Governor's Cup at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in 2018, as well as in the Baby Greens and OHJA Development Hunter divisions. He is now pursuing a jumper career at the 1.30 level. He consistently jumps clean and placed 4th in his first Grand Prix in May 2023.

His dam, Iroise de Grandry, is a Selle Francais, bred by the Angot family in France.  She herself jumped internationally for France, Switzerland and Italy, before coming to North America and landing with Keean White at Angelstone. She is by Calypso de Moyon, who goes back to the incomparable Jalisco B/Almé and Laudanum xx. She, along with Beau Balou himself, is in the élite Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program

His offspring are proving to follow in his footsteps, with multiple winnings in line classes, and consistent Premium awards at Inspections. They are correct, friendly, sensible and have inherited his great canter.

His outstanding movement also makes him an excellent candidate for an eventual, successful Dressage career. His journey continues....

Support Beau Balou Crowdfunding Efforts

A Beau Balou crowdfunding program has been put together by his owner and breeder, Louise Masek, in order to take him as far as he can go in his showjumping career and continue his wonderful breeding career, right here in Canada. We are calling the investment team, Charlies Angels, because those of you kind enough to invest in his future will literally be his Angels.

The high levels of equestrian sport today require even higher dollars. Entry fees, show fees, transportation, care, accommodation and veterinary attention are just some of the expenses. Most of us know that most grand prix horses, and particularly those that are also breeding stallions, are owned by corporate syndicates or those in the 0.00001% of the general population. Louise bred, trained and developed Beau Balou privately up until 2023, with the mission of offering North American breeders a quality stallion that exceeds all requirements that a performance and breeding stallion should. She also ensured he received lifetime approval for the major breed registries, by having him successfully complete 2 rigorous performance tests in the US. This ensures mare owners can register their foals with any registry. They can also be assured of European standards not only for rideability, conformation, scope, etc, but also for soundness, as he had to go through several clinical examinations, with x-rays sent to several European and North American Veterinary clinics for approval.  Many mare owners, both here in Canada and in the U.S. have already bred their dream horse, with Beau Balou as the sire and will be returning for repeat breedings.

Charlie, as Beau Balou is affectionately known, has turned out to be pretty special by all standards. He has garnered a following not only for his breeding, competition results, superior gaits and athleticism, but also for his unflappable, puppy dog personality. All of these things he passes on to his offspring. Louise has done her best to promote him and Canadian breeding on her own with her own finances, but it has come to a point where, in order to continue his career, she has to consider outside support. Instead of going the corporate route, and given how many people love Charlie, it was suggested she look into a crowd funding option, making it attainable for anyone to own a part of the dream and also support Charlie in his development.

We are reaching out to you, supporters and friends of Beau Balou, to join us on this journey and become a part of our team.  For a one time investment of $1,500.00 you will be entitled all the news and updates, photos and videos, as well as visits to see and meet Charlie. There will be invites to farm parties and special events, both at national level and the smaller International classes, which you can access through Louise.

You will be kept informed of Charlie’s progress and development, and updates on his offspring through a private WhatsApp group. You will also be entitled to 50% off one stud fee (non-transferable).

All crowd fund members are also entitled to a mini  Equi-Tots coaching clinic with Louise for themselves, or a family member. This can be used for coaching for any young horses you are aiming to take to the show ring ranging from inspections, to line classes (both European and hunter/jumper sporthorse shows), through to competitions under saddle in hunter/jumper or dressage. The mini-clinic can be swapped for 2 hours of consulting advice on any breeding or young horse development topics.

Louise is also offering 1 seat per member at a V.I.P table at one of the major shows where he will be competing so you can watch Charlie in the ring and enjoy a day of horse show memories with our team and other crowd funding members.

Finally, we are also planning to host a year-end get-together with our team of riders, grooms, friends  . . . and of course, Charlie himself.

As part of this agreement between you and Louise, Charlie must remain in Canada (except for out-of-country shows) under the supervision of Louise, unless unforeseen circumstances lead to Louise needing to relocate him.

In the unlikely event that Charlie were to be sold within a year for sufficient funds, then 30% of what was contributed by the crowd funders would be refunded. Mutliple shares may be acquired and the benefits will scale on a per share basis.

This is open to all North American residents for 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons.  This is your chance to support Beau Balou, an extraordinary stallion, and come along for what promises to be a very exciting ride!

Oh….and Charlies Angels swag will likely happen!!!

We hope you will consider taking this journey with us and supporting both Charlie and Louise on their endeavour to take Charlie as far as he can go, both in the ring, and in the breeding shed.

Beau Balou thanks you for your consideration!
